Among the Philippines 7,107 islands are many great locations for golf, scuba diving, and adventure. Scattered throughout are 6 retirement centers that are the hubs linking various attractions in the country.

METRO MANILA, LUZON, VISAYAS, and MINDANAO

The beautiful Manila Bay sunset is just one of the reasons to smile at life in the Philippines. Metro Manila, the political, economic, social, and cultural center of the Philippines, is one of the most modern metropolises in Southeast Asia.

The Intramuros, a former city itself enclosed by thick, high walls and moats situated along the southern banks of Pasig River. The seat of Spanish colonial rule in the East for almost four centuries and was the center of commerce, education, government and religion.

Luzon is one of three main island groups. In the mountains of northern Luzon sits cool Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines. It is home to many tourist spots like Camp John Hay, Burnham Park, and the Philippine Military Academy. Nearby are the Banaue Rice Terraces, 2,000 years old and carved into the mountains of Ifugao. Historic Vigan, in Ilocos Sur, like the rice terraces. Baguio has superb residential and leisure developments, as well as modern retail and medical centers.

In Central Luzon, Clark and Subic form the backbone of a thriving light industrial and ecotourism zone. Formerly US military bases, Clark and Subic now boast of beaches, hotels and resorts, casinos and sports facilities. Mixed use townships are on the rise, which combine residential, commercial and leisure facilities.

In South Luzon, the boom area known as Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas) is seeing the fastest paced development in recent years. Export processing zones are giving rise to the new suburbia, with subdivisions, schools, and commercial centers. It doesn’t hurt that this area is also a stone’s throw from the gorgeous landscapes like Taal Lake in Tagaytay, and the beaches and coral reefs of Batangas.

Visayas, is the second island group and home to some of the country’s most famous white sand beaches.

Cebu is the second largest metropolitan area in the Philippines, but its laidback tropical atmosphere makes it a premier diving and vacation destination. Cebu is near other acclaimed beaches, like those in Bohol, Boracay and Siquijor. Boracay in Panay is a fantastic tropical island with long white sand beaches that rival any of the best beaches in the whole world. Bohol is a popular tourist destination with its beaches and resorts. The Chocolate Hills, numerous mounds of limestone formations, is the most popular attraction. Retirement offerings in the Visayas are plentiful, and medical care is often topnotch.

Mindanao, which is the third island group, the largest city is Davao. Davao is a bustling, orderly city that boasts of a rich Muslim and Christian heritage. Cagayan de Oro, “The City of Golden Friendship” is located along the northern coast of Mindanao. The “City of White Water Rafting and River Trekking”. The two cities are jump off points to attractions like Camiguin, a small island province, has been regarded as the most beautiful island in the country. With its unique ambience, majestic waterfalls, hot and cold springs, it is not surprising that it is called “The Garden of Eden of the Philippines”.

Dakak Park Beach Resort, a world class beach resort located at the tip of northern Zamboanga Peninsula, in Dipolog. Another is Siargao in Surigao del Norte, with its unspoiled beaches and its rural charm, is home to twelve foot high waves sought by surfers from all over the world. Many retirement options are opening up in Mindanao, particularly in Davao, CDO and General Santos.

In every place, you’re sure to meet the same warm smiles and genuine caring with which Filipinos greet their guests.
